Many of us are unaware of the basic difference between “vehicle tracking systems” and “vehicle tracking”. These are two completely different things fulfilling different purposes. If you are thinking of buying a tracking device for your vehicle or fleet of vehicles then it is very important to know exactly which one you need to buy.
Vehicle tracking is actually a method with the help of which police can detect a vehicle and thus recover it in cases of theft. These days, there is an immobiliser security system fitted to every vehicle, which can be integrated with any vehicle tracking unit when required. Motion sensors are used by vehicle tracking units to tell a control centre if a vehicle moves without consent. This is vehicle tracking and is helpful in cases of theft and for breakdowns. It is not capable of giving any other details about the vehicle.
Vehicle tracking systems on the other hand are highly sophisticated devices used to keep tabs on a single vehicle or on an entire fleet of vehicles. Here GPS or global positioning system is used in conjunction with software to give the exact location, speed and fuelling details of vehicles. By installing a vehicle tracking system you can keep complete control over your fleets of vehicles.
Vehicle tracking systems help you to cut costs and monitor your business in a better way and thus increase the efficiency and all round performance of your business, which cannot be attained using simple vehicle tracking.
